Greece And Oman

Greece established diplomatic relations with the Sultanate of Oman in March 1974. Accreditation of Ambassadors of the two countries took place only in 1980. The Greek Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, through parallel accreditation, represents Greece in Oman. 

Currently, the head of the Greek mission in Saudi Arabia is His Excellency Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, His Excellency Alexis Konstantopoulos, Deputy head of mission is HE Mr. Christos Ninis. 

The Sultanate of Oman is represented in Greece by its Embassy in Rome headed by His Highness Sayyid Nazar Al Julanda Majid Al Said. 

Oman has recently (summer of 2024) appointed an Honorary Consul in Athens, His Excellency George Moundreas, and soon the honorary consulate will be operative.

 Greece is represented in Oman by the Honorary Consulate of Greece. located in Al Bashair Street 84, Madinat Qaboos. 

His Excellency Dr. Elias Nikolakopoulos is the Honorary Consul of Greece in Oman. 

Greece and the Sultanate of Oman have good relations, particularly on the political level, as there is a common approach on many international issues and cooperation within the framework of international organizations. 

In April 30, 2019, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. George Katrougalos, visited Oman and met with his counterpart Yousouf bin Alawi, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs and discussed bilateral relations. 

In March 2018, the Greek Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos visited the Sultanate and discussed issues of bilateral interest. 

The Greek Community of Oman numbers less than 150 Greeks located in different parts of the Sultanate, but mostly in Muscat. 

The Community gathers monthly (usually the first Thursday of every month) and can be found online on Facebook (Greeks in Oman Group).
